ZOA-Ukraine is a branch of an international humanitarian organization, based in the Netherlands, providing emergency relief to people who are affected by conflicts and natural disasters. In 2025, ZOA is operating in 14 countries.
In March 2022, ZOA started an emergency program in Ukraine for Internally Displaced Persons, in Zakarpattia oblast, providing cash based assistance. In addition improvements to group shelters are being made. ZOA is also implementing housing repair and livelihood projects in Chernihiv and Cherson oblasts.

Objective of the position
The Accountant will be a full-time employee of ZOA Ukraine under the direct supervision of the Manager of Operations.
The Accountant carries out a variety of accounting functions such as: Maintenance of accurate and timely accounting records for all financial transactions, filing and retrieval of accurate supporting documentation for all financial transactions, management of bank payments, making budgets and financial reports, ensuring the security of all funds.
All activities and financial transactions are carried out and recorded with integrity and in accordance with ZOA policies and procedures, any applicable donor and government guidelines.
Main activities
Tasks, responsibilities, and expected results
- Receive payment request from staff and review for correct approvals of expenses and completeness of documentation of financial transactions in compliance with ZOA guidelines.
- Process all invoices accurately and promptly, checking for completeness and eliminating errors, and ensuring payment is made within the appropriate timescale.
- In close coordination with other staff, check all purchase authorizations and other documentation to ensure compliance with ZOA and donor guidelines.
- Data entry of accounting data into the computerized accounting system.
- Ensure accurate records for cash and bank transactions are kept and the cash balance is correct.
- Prepare bank payments.
- File all office financial documents.
- Track advances in accordance with advance policy and notify staff of outstanding advances.
- Prepare the salary payments.
- Make budgets and financial reports.
- In close coordination with other staff, maintain a system to monitor and forecast cashflow requirements to meet administrative expenditures.
- Prepare the monthly report for tax office.
- Facilitate financial audits.
- Do the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting closure.
- Serve as back-up support for admin tasks to the team when requested.
Competencies
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, preferably in accounting.
- Minimum working experience of 4-5 years in finance
- Good spoken and written command of English.
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience of working with different accounting packages.
