Save Ukraine is one of the largest charitable foundations in Ukraine, recognized by Forbes Ukraine. It is the country's leading humanitarian organization focused on supporting families in need.
Founded in 2014, the organization works to protect children and families affected by the war. Our efforts are aimed at helping the most vulnerable Ukrainians — including orphans, children with disabilities, internally displaced persons, and survivors of violence.
We evacuate families from active combat zones and temporarily occupied territories. Save Ukraine is the only humanitarian organization that regularly carries out rescue missions to bring back children who have been forcibly deported to Russia.
We are currently looking for a journalist with proven experience in documenting stories related to war and armed conflict, and a strong understanding of ethical standards and safeguarding principles when working with vulnerable groups, particularly children and families affected by the war.
Responsibilities:
Organize and manage internal processes to ensure quality and accountability, including the development and implementation of clear documentation procedures, appropriate allocation of roles and responsibilities, and regular training of staff and partners on ethics, security, work with vulnerable populations, trauma-informed communication, and data protection.
Ensure full compliance with safety, ethical, and confidentiality standards when working with victims and witnesses.
Maintain regular coordination and cooperation with psychologists, social workers, and other relevant specialists to ensure comprehensive, survivor-centered support.
Conduct interviews with children and their families who have experienced deportation, following established protocols aimed at identifying cases of abduction, human trafficking, family separation, forced adoption, indoctrination, militarization, religious persecution, torture, and sexual violence.
Use a sensitive and psychologically informed approach in communicating with survivors to minimize the risk of retraumatization.
Ensure adherence to journalistic ethical principles, including confidentiality, security, and respect for the dignity of interviewees during information gathering and processing.
Collect, systematize, and verify testimonies of survivors, maintaining a secure and regularly updated database of stories.
Comply with applicable legislation and internal policies on personal data protection and confidentiality of information.
Ensure the timely transfer of collected information to relevant internal teams and external partners (including child search and return services, rehabilitation centers, media, donors, and religious organizations) in accordance with internal procedures.
Analyze collected materials to identify systemic violations of the rights of children and families, and prepare evidence-based conclusions and recommendations to inform the organization’s advocacy activities.
Establish mandatory oversight and ethical review of all publications related to vulnerable groups, ensuring that each publication undergoes prior approval to verify compliance with safety, confidentiality, non-retraumatization principles, journalistic standards, applicable legislation, and internal organizational policies.
