About the job 

The ICRC Staff Health Unit seeks a competent Deputy Staff Health Manager to join our team in Kyiv. The Deputy Staff Health Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all health-related matters concerning ICRC staff within the delegation. In alignment with the ICRC Staff Health Strategy, and in close collaboration with on-site medical personnel, the Deputy Manager is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the physical and mental well-being of ICRC staff. The role involves the implementation of the Staff Health Strategy across key domains: Staff Health Policy, Health Promotion and Prevention, Emergency Preparedness and Case Management, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for Staff, Crisis Management and Support

Quality, Control and Monitoring. The Deputy Staff Health Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective execution of these initiatives, contributing to a healthier and more resilient workforce.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Act as the Staff Health Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of health services and support for ICRC staff
• Conduct health briefings for new ICRC staff, providing guidance on health policies, hygiene standards, and wellness practices
• Supervise living conditions in the delegation and sub-sites, promoting hygiene, nutrition, and general well-being of staff
• Coordinate and evaluate medical services, including referrals, case management, and medical evacuations when necessary
• Provide advice and support on staff health issues, including during transportation and evacuation procedures
• Develop and implement medical evacuation guidelines and procedures for staff in emergencies or during repatriation
• Monitor staff health data, including illnesses, accidents, and absenteeism, to assess risks and inform health strategies
• Collaborate with the Staff PSS and Wellbeing team to improve access to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services for staff

About you

To be successful as Deputy Staff Health Manager in the Staff Health Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:  

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• Medical Doctor (Master’s degree in Medicine) or Registered Nurse
• A minimum of six years of professional experience, with at least three years of clinical practice
• Proven experience in mental health care and stress management
• Experience in medical evacuation procedures and transportation coordination
• Solid knowledge of tropical health issues and public health practices
• Previous experience with the ICRC is highly desirable
• Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian 
• Computer literate, including good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
