The vision of Norwegian People’s Aid is Solidarity in Action. We are a politically independent membership-based organization working in Norway and more than 30 countries worldwide. Founded in 1939 as the labor movement’s humanitarian solidarity organization, NPA aims to improve people’s living conditions and to create societies that are more just and more democratic. NPA’s international work covers three core areas: Mine Action and Disarmament, Democratisation and Just distribution of power and resources, and Humanitarian Action and crisis response. NPA has opened a Mine Action and Disarmament program to protect civilians from the threats posed by explosive ordnance (EO) in Ukraine.

Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is looking for a Logistics Assistant/Driver with a good English skills. 

We also consider candidates with disabilities only who meet the requirements. 

NPA operates fully by the laws of Ukraine and we expect our candidates (if male) to have up-to-date military documents.

 

General responsibilities

  • Drives the vehicle for transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of equipment, stores, documents and any other items as required
  • Booking of travel and accommodation requirements for staff and official visitors.
  • Process purchase requisitions/orders within purchasing authority. 
  • Responsible for looking after the allocated duty vehicle/s including all daily maintenance checks, mileage and fuel usage records and ensuring regular and timely services are conducted. 
  • Maintains daily vehicle logs, provides inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports thru MFR, LDR and regular communication with Fleet Officer and logs department. 
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents. 
  • Meet all NPA’s requirements as outlined in the driving and vehicle policy. 
  • Responsible for Assisting & performing all Logistic duties as required by immediate supervisor or other Supervisor. 
  • Loading and offloading
  • Ensuring that vehicle documentation is available, valid and secured 
  • Assist in simple procurement processes 
  • Regularly inspect vehicles to ensure that all vehicles are in good working order and equipped according to NPA policy and local traffic regulation
  • Assisting with inventory and office stores.
  • Procuring all office consumables and supplies 
  • Other duties and tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor

 Specific duties

  • Ensure vehicles are prepared daily for deployment including the necessary tool kits, communication and satellite tracking checks.  
  • Process bookings for accommodation and trips of NPA staff members and official visitors.
  • Responsible for ensuring all passengers are wearing safety belts
  • Responsible for keeping the vehicle clean and ready all times. 
  • Ensure that the driving rules of the Government of Ukraine are adhered to. 
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving driver’s or NPA’s equipment.
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly reports of all logistics activities inclusive of updated inventory
  • Assisting in collection and updates of files, logbooks and fuel records
  • Collecting and maintaining vehicle history files, including detail of all servicing, repairs, logbooks and fuel records
  • Keep track and initiating regular maintenance of assets and equipment
  • Distribute goods, equipment and documents
  • Participate in stock take and inventory count processes

Qualifications:

 Education:

  • High-school diploma in a relevant field
  • Good knowledge of English and Ukrainian - both speaking and writing
  • Basic computer skills

 Experience:

  • Two years or more experience in the relevant field including good driving skills.
  • Previous work experience in insecure environments and able to work effectively under difficult conditions is desirable
  • Experience with some simple fleet management is desirable

 Solid communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Systematic and organised in approach, including accuracy, consistency, and attention to details, tenacity, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent health

 Additional Considerations:

 The Driver/Logistic Assistant is to abide by the policies and personal code of conduct set by the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) and represent the organisation in a loyal and responsible manner.

The Job Description will be regularly reviewed by the Line Manager.
