About the job 

The ICRC Information Management Unit is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Translator to join our dynamic team in Kyiv. In this critical role, in close cooperation with the team members and line managers, you will help the ICRC communicate clearly and consistently by providing translation services from Ukrainian and Russian into English and vice versa, and editing services in specified languages.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Translate and edit a wide range of ICRC texts from Ukrainian and Russian into English and vice versa, ensuring linguistic accuracy, appropriate terminology, and timely delivery
• Provide linguistic advice to colleagues across the organization
• Contribute to ongoing projects, including the development and standardization of terminology
• Utilize and help improve ICRC terminology tools to ensure consistency in translations.
• Collaborate with external translators when additional resources are needed
• Offer guidance on language sensitivities and cultural nuances within the delegation

About you

To be successful as an Translator for the Information Management Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences, and have the following characteristics:  

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
• University degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
• 3–5 years of translation or editing experience, preferably within an international organization
• Editing experience and knowledge of international law or related fields are considered assets
• Exceptional oral and written skills in Ukrainian and Russian
• Advanced proficiency in English 
• Proficiency in computer applications; familiarity with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools is advantageous
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
